Connected insights for better roads

Leveraging connected vehicles data to help road operators improve safety & asset management.

Key differentiators

  • Why does it matter?

The reliability is fundamental as safety measures impact the responsibility of road maintenance company. It is “safety critical”.

Furthermore, this will imply important investments: wrong information has a price.

    Why are we trustworthy?

AISIN has 30 years experience in supplying software for in-vehicle safety systems, submitted to highest quality standards from automotive industry. We deliver our products to the most renowned car manufacturers, like VW group, Stellantis, Mercedes, BMW or Toyota group, with outstanding customer satisfaction regarding quality.

As a supplier of navigation systems, we have a long history in data science applied to geolocalized data such as traffic or weather information.

  • As a leading automotive Tier-1 supplier of powertrain, navigation systems and driver assistance systems, AISIN have been developing driver behaviour analysis softwares for some decades, for embedded solutions and connected services. The first application was to automatically adapt the gearbox control based on driver’s style. It’s also the basis of our Electronic Stability Control systems (distributed under the Advics brand) and Driver Coaching applications integrated in smartphone apps from car OEMs.

RoadTrace can now re-use these assets and thoroughly validated technologies to benefit to road operators.

  • We rely on a wide customer base to collect feedback and improve our products. Our solutions dedicated to road operators are already in use in several countries, with many customers. Some examples :

Japan: Michilog maintenance service deployed in 6 cities

UK: RoadTrace Safety Insights deployed in 7 local authorities (e.g. Blackpool, Oxfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Bristol, …)

France: RoadTrace Safety Insights deployed in Côtes-d’Armor and Lot-et-Garonne.

  • We aggregate different types of data from various sources to make sure that our dataset is statistically representative. We do not rely on data from only one car brand or one vehicle type.

Our data enables us to go very deep in driver behaviour and context analysis, enabling us to better identify and understand the potential root cause of an issue.

This allows our clients to better design their corrective actions.

  • We have a complete portfolio of services to help our clients optimize their asset manaagement. From Road Safety Insights to pavement defects detection or speed profiles analysis

  • Our products are built for effortless and rapid integration into your existing GIS system, with a highly adaptable delivery format and process to guarantee a seamless user experience. Moreover, our Safety Insights are designed to work seamlessly with any GIS or PMS system, ensuring RoadTrace aligns perfectly with the needs of your ecosystem.

  • We can confidently rely on strong partnerships with leading companies that are specialized in highways engineering and road surveying. These strategic alliances enhance our efforts, and our advanced integration capabilities allow us to collaborate seamlessly across multiple platforms, ensuring that we deliver the most effective solutions for road safety and smart mobility.

  • Our role as a Tier-1 supplier and strategic partner to major car manufacturers grants us direct access to connected car data, enabling seamless collaboration and data utilization at the source.

Discover how we compare the road collision prediction performance level of two analyses: the first one is conducted based on historical road collisions and the other is based on harsh braking data only. We quantify the benefits in terms of accuracy and speed when it comes to predicting future collisions on a large-scale road network using real data from fleets of connected vehicles. We demonstrate that harsh braking clusters enable us to detect precise spots that are dangerous for road users.

The study demonstrates that clusters of harsh braking events:

  • Bring comparatively more information than past collisions (22% conversion rate vs 6% with 5 years of KSI data).

  • Enable an improvement of 22% in prediction rate compared to an equivalent number of historical crash locations.

  • Allow much quicker detection of future collisions.

  • Enabled us to detect collisions that could not be predicted even using 5 years of historical road crash data.

This research demonstrates that road safety engineers and managers now have access to superior tools to enhance road infrastructure and make more informed, risk-based decisions.
